Safety Eyewear

The eyes are at once our most delicate and most essential body part, but can be easily overlooked in PPE programs. Whether you need a basic pair of safety glasses or the full protection of a goggle, Magid offers low prices on a wide array of eyewear and accessories. Magid’s Gemstone® line of protective eyewear combines premium quality and style with value pricing. Combine that with full lines from the world’s largest manufacturers, and Magid has what it takes to meet your eye protection needs.

Types of Eye Protection

  • Safety Glasses: Made with shatter-resistant polycarbonate lenses to protect the eyes from flying debris and some liquid splash. Lens options are available to provide additional protection from UV and infrared radiation, and bifocal lenses are available to allow wearers to read small text up-close.
  • Goggles: Create a seal around the brow and cheekbones to protect the eyes completely from liquid splash. Goggles also protect a larger area of the face than safety glasses against impact from flying debris.
  • Lens Cleaners: Disposable wipes and lens cleaning stations that remove dirt and grime from safety glasses, goggles, and face shields.
  • Sideshields: Plastic shields that fit onto the temple of a pair of safety glasses to extend protection against side impacts.

Some Quick Facts About Eye Injuries at Work
  • Three out of every five workers injured were not wearing any eye protection at the time of injury.

  • 70% of accidents result from flying or falling debris with 3/5 of objects smaller than a pin head.

  • 94% of injuries to workers wearing eye protection were the result of objects going around or under safety glasses.

Highlights of OSHA’s Requirements for Eye Protection

  • Workers should be fully protected from all possible hazards on-site. Employees that could be exposed to flying debris from the top or sides should be equipped with eyewear appropriate to the risks.

  • Goggles for dust and chemical splash should be fitted by qualified personnel to create a firm, protective seal around the eye.

  • The employer shall ensure that each affected employee uses equipment with filter lenses that offer the appropriate level of IR protection for the work being performed.

  • Employees should be well trained in the proper care, maintenance, useful life, and disposal of all protective eyewear.
