NexGen™ Asbestos and Lead Dust Applications
Courtesy of: Kappler

A review of Sax's Dangerous Properties of Industrial Materials, Eighth Edition, indicates that an asbestos fiber is typically sized with a length of greater that 5 microns, a diameter less than 3 microns, and a length/diameter ratio of greater than 3:1.

Studies have shown that on microscopic examination of lead dust, a wide range of particles appear to be agglomerates ranging in size from 1-10 microns.

Kappler has conducted a particle holdout test on NexGen using the Aloxite barrier test method defined by TC162 WG3. The results show NexGen to have a 99% efficiency holdout of particles to .35 microns.

Based on the results of this testing, NexGen fabric can be recommended as an effective barrier to asbestos and lead particles.
