The Chicago Protective Apparel® KN51NFPA is a 6 oz. arc-rated balaclava knit hood constructed from a Nomex®/Lenzing FR™ blended knit fabric, designed for electrical workers and industrial personnel requiring reliable flame-resistant head and face protection. Its long-cut style and dual-layer construction deliver comprehensive coverage in arc flash and heat-exposure environments.
This hood meets NFPA 70E and NFPA 1971 compliance requirements with an arc thermal performance value (ATPV) of 10.1 cal/cm², making it well-suited for use in arc flash Category 1 and Category 2 PPE ensembles.
- Nomex/Lenzing FR blended knit construction provides inherent flame resistance that will not melt, drip, or support combustion
- 6 oz. fabric weight offers a balance of protection and wearability for extended shifts
- Face and head area features 2-ply construction for enhanced arc flash and heat protection in the most critical coverage zones
- Bib area is single ply, reducing bulk at the collar while still maintaining flame-resistant coverage
- Long-cut style extends further down the neck and shoulders for maximum protection coverage
