What Are Fall Protection Connectors?
Anchorage connectors fix a worker’s harness or lanyard to a secure attachment point. They’re the final component in creating a full personal fall arrest system and provide a degree of shock absorption in the event of a fall. At the same time, fall protection anchorage connectors intentionally restrict the user’s movement, preventing them from accidentally slipping over the edge or climbing into a hazardous area.
Types of Fall Protection Anchorage Connectors
Based on ANSI/ASSP Z359.18 standards, fall protection anchorage connectors include three basic types:
- Type A connectors are built for an active fall protection system
- Type T connectors support a suspended connector or tie-back line used in a fall protection system
- Type D connectors provide a greater degree of movement compared to the other two types. This design also absorbs the energy from a fall to reduce the strain placed on the anchor point. Understand that Type D connectors are not ideal for positioning, rescue, and suspended component usage
